Summary of practice:

Julian is a hugely experienced lawyer. He was called to the Bar in 1990 and transferred to become a solicitor in 1994. He is a Higher Rights Advocate (criminal and civil) and a Court and Police Station duty solicitor and a member of the Law Society’s’ Child Panel (having been a member since 1998). He has for a number of years been on the committee of the London Criminal Courts Solicitors Association (LCCSA) and was Junior Vice President and Vice President of the Association.

After a 6 year stint as a Justices Clerk, Julian, entered private practice in the Newcastle area in 1994 and soon gained a formidable reputation representing clients in a number of areas of work in particular criminal, family and public law.

In 1998 Julian moved to London and the following year started his own practice in West London. His reputation has grown and flourished and he heads one of the most progressive and exciting firms in London.

As a member of the Law Society Children Panel since 1998, Julian has vast experience in representing children, children’s guardians, parents, grandparents and interveners in the Family Proceedings, County and High Courts. He undertakes most, if not all the advocacy in such cases.

Julians’ specialism in serious crime, public law and family law can be seen in the following array of cases listed below. These are just a snapshot of some of the cases Julian has been involved with over the years;

In addition to this he has been at the vanguard in the defence of successive governmental attacks on legal aid in 2007 and this year. He was instrumental, along with colleagues from the LCCSA, in arranging the public protest in Parliament Square on 22nd May 2013 and March 2014.

Julian is fiercely opposed to these unjustifiable and unfair proposals. He views lawyers as “the thin grey line” defending the disadvantaged and vulnerable against the full might and resources of the state and its agencies. You can view a report on this matter on the link below;
